A state plant approval, the Manufactured Housing Institute plant list, an EPA facility record or the maker's own site names each one. The other 312 are the published address of a log, timber, tiny-home or modular maker that does not publish its factory site. The siteType column says which kind each row is. The list holds all 147 HUD-code plants on MHI's January 2026 plant list, plus 11 plants that closed since 2024 (status Closed). It adds modular plants approved by 14 state registers and the interstate building compact. It also adds makers from the MHBA, MBI, HICo, SIPA, RVIA and log and timber home directories. By type: 372 build modular homes, 256 log or timber frame homes, 178 HUD-code homes, 62 park model RVs, 56 panelized homes and 52 tiny homes. Champion Homes has 46 plants, Clayton Homes 44 and Cavco 30. The parentCompany and ticker columns name the owner. A plant approved in several states is one row with every approval on it. 130 plants hold approvals from two or more states. The list leaves out plants that build only commercial modular buildings.

A site that a primary record names as a plant. The record is the MHI plant list, a state's approval of the plant, an EPA facility record or the maker's own page about its factory. Those 540 rows read Factory in siteType. The other 312 rows are makers whose directory listing gives a company address but no factory site.
Which kinds of homes are covered?
HUD-code manufactured homes, modular homes, panelized homes, park model RVs, tiny homes, log and timber frame homes, and steel or container homes. constructionTypes lists what each plant builds. A plant that builds homes and commercial buildings is in the list. A plant that builds only offices, classrooms or equipment shelters is not.
How do I see each plant's state approvals?
Each register's fields sit in columns that start with its state code: pa_, md_, tx_, mi_, ga_, in_, ut_, mt_, co_, fl_, nc_ and iibc_ for the interstate compact. sources lists every register and directory that names the plant. plantId holds the MHI plant code and the approval numbers.
