7,115 farmers markets across all 50 states and US territories, from the USDA's national Local Food Directory, with GPS coordinates on every single record, a street address on 99.5%, and a phone number on 81%. Markets also carry the organiser's contact name and email plus Facebook and Instagram handles where they are listed, which makes this unusually actionable for a public dataset: most buyers want to reach the market manager, and that contact is in the file. Food and beverage brands planning sampling and direct-to-consumer programs, payment and POS vendors, agricultural extension and food-policy researchers, and tourism and destination marketers all work from market-level geography. The USDA maintains it through market operators themselves, so it reflects markets that are actually operating rather than historical listings.

All 7,115 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late.
