US Federal Campgrounds & RV Areas
U.S. Location Dataset // 5,953

5,953 federally managed campgrounds and RV areas, from the Recreation Information Database that powers Recreation.gov, with GPS coordinates on every record, a street address on 71% and a phone on 81%. The breakdown by agency is US Forest Service 3,832, Army Corps of Engineers 1,071, National Park Service 655 and Bureau of Land Management 359. Federal land is where most American camping actually happens, and unlike private park directories this source is authoritative, free of pay-to-list bias and complete for the agencies it covers. RV and outdoor gear brands planning dealer and retail coverage, campground software and reservation vendors, satellite and connectivity providers, and tourism and site-selection analysts all use it as the demand map for outdoor recreation. Coordinates on 100% of rows make trade-area and drive-time work immediate.

CSVFormat

All 5,953 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late. Assembling the U.S.-wide coverage by hand also means one query per area against sources that cap what they return per search.

?Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include private campgrounds and RV parks?

No, and the name says so. This is federal land only, the four agencies above. Private chains such as KOA maintain their own locators, and we can quote those separately; KOA's detail pages currently block automated access, so it is not in this file rather than being silently partial.

Why do some records have no street address?

Remote federal campgrounds often have no postal address at all, which is why 29% lack a street line. Every record has coordinates, so location is never in doubt even when a mailing address does not exist.

Where does the data come from?

The Recreation Information Database, the federal government's own inter-agency source for recreation facilities. It is public, free, and published as a full export rather than reconstructed from a website.
