US Airports, Heliports & Seaplane Bases
U.S. Location Dataset // 18,966
All 18,966 open US aviation facilities from the FAA's National Airspace System Resource file, the authoritative federal source, refreshed on the FAA's 28-day publication cycle. The mix is 12,580 airports, 5,672 heliports, 560 seaplane bases and a tail of ultralight, glider and balloon fields. The fields that matter for qualifying are all here: the FAA and ICAO identifiers, public versus private use, ownership, the number of runways and the longest runway length, fuel types available, whether the field is towered, and surveyed coordinates on 100% of records. Only 5,013 are public-use, and 723 are towered, so the file lets you cut straight to the small set that matters for a given application. Buyers include aviation fuel networks, charter and fractional operators, ground support equipment makers, hangar and FBO developers, drone and airspace software, and emergency and air-ambulance planners who need heliports specifically.
All 18,966 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late. Assembling the U.S.-wide coverage by hand also means one query per area against sources that cap what they return per search.

{}Data Fields
The percentage is how much of the file carries that field, measured on the delivered CSV rather than estimated. 2 of 20 fields are populated on under half the rows (icaoId, fuelTypes). Every row always carries the identifiers and the full address.

?Frequently Asked Questions
Are private airstrips included?
Yes, and they are the majority: 13,867 of the facilities are privately owned, against 4,786 public and 313 military. The ownership and use columns let you filter to the 5,013 public-use facilities if that is what you need.
Why do some records have a PO box as the address?
Because the FAA's file has no airport street address field at all. The address, ZIP and phone come from the facility manager contact record, which is often a PO box or a municipal office. City, state and the surveyed latitude and longitude are the reliable location fields, and coordinates are present on every record.
Do you have fixed-base operators, the fuel and handling businesses?
That is a separate dataset and it is still being assembled. FBOs are the commercially interesting layer but no federal registry lists them, so they have to be gathered airport by airport against a rate-limited source. Ask us where it stands.
