15,883 US tax law firms with a street address on every row, a phone on 94.0% and a website on 50.9% — the highest website fill of any list we build from a federal registry. Each row carries how many IRS-credentialed attorneys practice at that address: 13,290 are single-attorney practices, 1,217 have two, 512 have three, 699 have four to nine and 165 have ten or more. The segment worth the price is in the credentials column: 3,220 of these practitioners hold a law license and a CPA license at the same time. That is a specific, high-value prospect for anyone selling practice software, professional liability cover, CPE or succession services, and no compiled attorney list can isolate it, because holding two credentials at once is not a field a compiler records. Coverage is all 50 states plus DC, led by California 1,656, New York 1,420, Illinois 1,074, Florida 1,034 and Texas 982. Refreshed monthly.
All 15,883 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late. Assembling the U.S.-wide coverage by hand also means one query per area against sources that cap what they return per search.

Is this a list of all US attorneys?
No. It is tax attorneys, and the name says so on purpose. There is no national registry of US attorneys at all — admission is granted state by state and the large bars actively prevent enumeration. California's own search form states that a location search returns "a random sample listing of attorneys"; New York's attorney search refuses non-browser requests outright. Anyone selling you a complete national attorney list compiled one from directories. This is built from a federal credential registry instead, which is narrower and verifiable.
What makes it a tax law firm?
At least one attorney at that address holds an IRS preparer credential, which the IRS verifies against the issuing bar. So it is not a firm that describes itself as doing tax work — it is a firm with a lawyer the IRS has confirmed is licensed and registered to prepare returns.
Are these firms or individual lawyers?
Firms. Every row is a practice at a business address and no individual's name reaches the file. Where an attorney reported no trading name, the row is dropped rather than published under their own name — 1,800 of them. We do not sell lists of licensed individuals.
How complete is it?
A tax attorney who prepares no returns holds no preparer credential and is absent, as is any firm where none of the lawyers do. There is no published universe of US tax law firms to measure against, so no honest completeness percentage exists. What can be said precisely is the source: 26,180 attorney-credentialed preparers in the IRS's February 2026 extract, collapsed to 15,883 firms at distinct business addresses.
Why is this smaller than a broker's attorney list?
Because it is a different thing. Ten of the seventy-one vendors we surveyed sell an attorney list, and theirs is every lawyer they could compile. This is the tax practice specifically, verified against a federal registry, with the attorney-CPA overlap flagged. If you want volume, buy theirs. If you want to mail tax practices and know the credential is real, buy this.
