US Optometry & Eye Care Practices
U.S. Location Dataset // 41,513

41,513 US eye care locations with street address, phone and declared specialty, covering both optometry and ophthalmology. Both halves are here on purpose: an OD and an MD are different professions, but they are one commercial market — the consolidators buy both, and anyone selling frames, lenses, diagnostic equipment, surgical devices or practice software calls on both. Every row is tagged as optometry, ophthalmology, or a combined OD+MD practice, so a buyer who only wants one can filter rather than be denied the rows. Specialties are broken out where declared: pediatrics, cornea and contact lens, low vision rehabilitation, vision therapy, occupational and sports vision, and retina. Eye care has no facility-level provider category at all — we checked, and no such classification exists — so this is built from the practitioner registrations held by organizations, then collapsed to one row per physical address. That collapse matters: the raw source held 48,303 registrations at 41,513 real locations, and selling the larger number would have overstated the footprint by 16%. Refreshed weekly.

CSVFormat

All 41,513 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late. Assembling the U.S.-wide coverage by hand also means one query per area against sources that cap what they return per search.

?Frequently Asked Questions

Why are optometrists and ophthalmologists in the same file?

Because the buyers treat them as one market and the consolidators acquire both. They are tagged separately on every row, so filtering to one is trivial — whereas if we split the file, anyone who needed both would have to buy twice and dedupe the overlap themselves.

Does it identify EyeCare Partners, MyEyeDr and the other groups?

Only where the practice itself declared a parent organization, which is about 6% of rows. A blank means not declared, not independent. A real ownership column requires scraping each platform's own locator and is on the roadmap.

Are retail optical chains included?

Where they operate as a registered eye care practice, yes. A pure retail optical counter with no practice attached is not an eye care practice and is not in scope.
