The list starts from Overture Maps place data for the pool cleaning, pool and hot tub service and hot tub and pool store categories, plus swimming pool places whose name says pool business (e.g. Pools Inc, Pool Service, Custom Pools). Public, club, hotel and apartment pools, swim schools and places without a street address are left out, and a place stays only when its name or website says pool, spa or a pool trade word. Every location in one of our pool lists is then taken out, matched by phone, by street address or by a shared name word within 150 metres: Leslie's, Pinch A Penny, POOLCORP, Heritage Pool Supply, Anthony & Sylvan, Premier Pools & Spas, ASP and Poolwerx. Franchises and chains we do not sell (Blue Haven, Pool Scouts, Pool Troopers, the big-box stores) are taken out by name, and so is any name shared by 25 or more locations. What is left trades under its own name: 7,422 businesses are the only location with their name. Pentair dealers stay in, because a Pentair dealer can still be independent, and the alsoInList column flags the 1,039 that are. Phone is filled on 99.0% of rows, website on 86.5%, Facebook page on 56.3% and email on 49.6%. Florida (1,424), California (1,238), Texas (1,198) and Arizona (445) hold the most.
