9,116 licensed cannabis retail dispensaries across 20 legal states, filtered from the state regulators' own license registers so every one is a currently licensed retailer rather than a directory listing. Dispensaries are the consumer-facing end of the industry and the highest-value target for point-of-sale and payments vendors, security and cash-handling services, packaging, signage and fixtures, delivery platforms, and brands seeking shelf placement. They are also the license class most likely to carry a real premises address, since a retail store has to be findable, which makes this the most complete and most usable cut of the license data. Refreshed weekly, with license number, status, market type and the state's own license label on every record.

All 9,116 records, as published — the complete set rather than a sample. That matters most for coverage and gap questions: put together the same list from partial searches and every location you miss reads as a gap that is not there, so the answer is wrong rather than merely late. Assembling the U.S.-wide coverage by hand also means one query per area against sources that cap what they return per search.
