Independent Fire Protection Companies

2,571 independent fire protection and life safety service companies across all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico: fire sprinkler, fire alarm, extinguisher and inspection, and suppression companies that trade under their own name.

More about this list

California (326), Texas (223), Florida (202) and New York (150) have the most. The list starts from Overture Maps place data for fire protection services, plus extinguisher shops and alarm companies whose name says fire. Government and volunteer fire departments, stations and districts are taken out. So is every location that matches one of our twelve roll-up lists by phone, street address or a shared name word within 150 metres, which catches acquired companies still trading under their old names: Pye-Barker, Summit, Cintas, Pavion, Impact, Marmic, Hiller, VSC, Sciens, Encore, Koorsen and COSCO. Roll-ups and their brands that we do not sell as lists, among them APi Group's companies, VFP, Johnson Controls, CertaSite, Jensen Hughes and Telgian, are taken out by name, as are distributors and any operator with 10 or more locations under one brand or one website. What is left is the companies a buyer could approach as add-ons. The locationsWithSameName column says how many rows share a company's name: 2,071 rows are the only one with their name. The servicesInName column names the trade where the company's own name says it (extinguisher 192, sprinkler 178, security 149, alarm 120, suppression 23, backflow 8). Phone is filled on 99.5% of rows, website on 86.7%, Facebook page on 61.7% and email on 50.7%.

Using ChatGPT, Claude or an API?

No setup needed. Ask ChatGPT or Claude your question about the Independent Fire Protection Companies and give it this page: it can open https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=independent-fire-protection-company-list with the filters you need and show you the count and price.

Using ChatGPT or Claude? Tell it to answer from locationlists.com/find — no account, no connector.

How assistants ask

No connector needed. Any AI assistant can answer from this site with a web link, no connector, no account: open https://locationlists.com/find with the question as query parameters.

If a question needs filtering, distance, drive time, combining lists or a price, open a /find link: either put the question itself in q=, or build the structured link. The answer does not need an API, a connector or an account.

Simplest, the question itself: https://locationlists.com/find?q=<the question in plain words>

Or set the parts yourself: https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=<slug>&state=<ST>&city=<city>&county=<county>&zip=<zip>&near=<place or zip>&radius=<miles>&drive=<minutes>&where=<column>:<op>:<value>&total=<rows>

Leave out what the question does not need. Use radius for straight-line miles or drive for minutes of driving (5 to 60), not both; near can name several places separated by | to reach from any of them. To ask about several lists at once, use datasets with two or more names, or category with a kind of business. To compare two lists, add relate=nearest and the other list with b. in front of its parameters. To count by area, use areas=county (or zip, state, metro). To keep only places whose county, ZIP code, metro area or state meets a Census figure, add area_where (for example county:population>1000000); with areas, per=100000 gives counts per 100,000 residents.

Links an assistant can open, each showing how many rows match, a few preview rows and the price for just that part:

Optional: connect for repeat use or wallet payments:

Read https://locationlists.com/skill.md and follow the instructions to connect LocationLists. Then show me the Independent Fire Protection Companies list.

Your assistant will walk you through setup and show you the price before you pay.

For developers

At 2,571 records this dataset is not sold by the row — buy the file. Without a connector, open https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=independent-fire-protection-company-list. An agent connected to https://locationlists.com/mcp can still search it, read a free sample file of up to 10 rows and buy the whole file itself. How agent purchasing works

?Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an independent fire protection company here?

A fire sprinkler, fire alarm, extinguisher, inspection or suppression service company that trades under its own name and is not a branch of a roll-up. Every location matching one of our twelve roll-up lists by phone, street address or a shared name word within 150 metres is taken out, along with APi Group's companies, VFP, Johnson Controls, CertaSite, Jensen Hughes, Telgian and other roll-up and distributor names, and any operator with 10 or more locations under one brand or one website. Fire departments, stations and volunteer companies are taken out too.

How do I keep only single-site companies?

Keep the rows where locationsWithSameName is 1: 2,071 companies. The other 500 rows share a name with at least one other row. A shared name is not always one owner: common names repeat across states, and 11 rows are called Total Fire Protection.

Can I tell sprinkler companies from alarm or extinguisher companies?

Where the company's own name says so. The servicesInName column names the trade on 639 rows: extinguisher 192, sprinkler 178, security 149, alarm 120, suppression 23 and backflow 8, with some names stating two. The rest are named for fire protection or fire safety in general; their website, on 86.7% of rows, says what they do.

Why are acquired companies with their old names not in the file?

Because they belong to a roll-up. A company that still trades under its old name after it was bought is matched to the roll-up's branch at the same phone or address and taken out. Those branches are in the roll-up lists, and Pye-Barker's list names the acquired company on each branch.

Where does the data come from?

Overture Maps place data (release 2026-08-19): the fire protection service category, plus extinguisher shops and alarm companies whose name says fire, checked against our twelve fire protection roll-up lists. Each row keeps its Overture place id, sources and last-updated date.
