This is the only list where each store is tagged by the operator itself — construction equipment (9,014 stores), general tool (7,103), party and event (3,299), and aerial work platforms (261) — so you can split the independent construction-rental universe from party rental in one filter instead of guessing from names. Roughly a third of the stores belong to United Rentals, Sunbelt, Herc and the other chains; the remaining two thirds are independents and regional operators, which is what makes this dataset useful for equipment OEMs and parts suppliers selling into rental fleets, for fleet-telematics and rental-software vendors, and for anyone mapping consolidation targets in a market where independents still hold roughly half of revenue. Every record has the store name, ARA member ID, street address, city, state or province, postal code, phone, GPS coordinates and the category flags, and 10,030 stores have their website. Is this every equipment rental store in North America?

No — it is every store listed in the American Rental Association's public locator, which is the largest single directory of the industry. It includes the national chains and the majority of independents, but a rental yard that is not an ARA member will not appear. Checked against Overture Maps' tool-rental places in Florida, ARA covers roughly 85–90% of genuine independent construction-equipment yards.

How do I separate construction rental from party rental?

Use the flags. Each member tags its own store: construction, generalTool, party and mewp are 1/0 columns. 9,014 stores carry the construction flag; 1,484 list party rental and neither construction equipment nor general tools.

Why is this a snapshot rather than updated weekly?

Does it include Canada?

Yes — 939 Canadian stores alongside 11,785 in the US. ARA's handful of members in Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe are excluded.
