The American Rental Association's RentalHQ locator is the industry's own directory: 12,724 member rental stores across the United States (11,785) and Canada (939), from the national chains down to single-yard independents. This is the only list where each store is tagged by the operator itself — construction equipment (9,031 stores), general tool (7,114), party and event (3,314), and aerial work platforms (262) — so you can split the independent construction-rental universe from party rental in one filter instead of guessing from names. Roughly a third of the stores belong to United Rentals, Sunbelt, Herc and the other chains; the remaining two thirds are independents and regional operators, which is what makes this dataset useful for equipment OEMs and parts suppliers selling into rental fleets, for fleet-telematics and rental-software vendors, and for anyone mapping consolidation targets in a market where independents still hold roughly half of revenue. Every record has the store name, ARA member ID, street address, city, state or province, postal code, phone, website, GPS coordinates and the category flags.
