There is no federal, state or municipal register of laundromats anywhere — the industry is almost entirely independent single-site owners with minimal web presence — so this had to be assembled from mapping data and cross-checked between sources, which is exactly why it is worth buying rather than building. At 24,769 it covers roughly 85% of the commonly cited 29,000-site market estimate, and that 29,000 is itself an industry estimate rather than a count, because no one has a register to count from. Nearly 4,000 records are confirmed by two independent sources. Commercial laundry equipment manufacturers and their distributors, payment and card-system vendors, route operators, insurers and the private equity buyers rolling up laundromats all need site-level geography, and this is the most complete picture available.
