More about this list

The list starts from Overture Maps place data for roofing contractors (plus roofers filed under gutters, siding or skylights). Taken out: 14,997 places that are a contractor in our US Roofing Contractors list (GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning and Atlas certified contractors and NRCA members); 1,216 in our Florida, California, Virginia, Washington and Louisiana roofing licence lists; 191 offices of CentiMark, Tecta America, Nations Roof, Baker Roofing, Erie Home and Storm Guard; 685 named for a roll-up, franchise or national brand (Mighty Dog Roofing, Roof Maxx, DaBella and others); 1,968 on the website of a certified contractor or a chain; 4,253 suppliers, manufacturers and other trades (gutters-only, solar-only, siding, windows, cleaning, inspections); 3,064 with no street address, no roofing word in the name or website, or a lead-generation listing (call-centre phones, city-page listing networks, "near me" names); and 907 repeat listings of one place. locationsWithSameName marks the 12,374 companies that are the only row with their name. Phone is filled on 99.6% of rows, website on 83.1%, Facebook page on 41.2% and email on 36.0%.

Using ChatGPT, Claude or an API?

No setup needed. Ask ChatGPT or Claude your question about the Independent Roofing Contractors (not manufacturer-certified) and give it this page: it can open https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=independent-roofing-contractor-list with the filters you need and show you the count and price.

Using ChatGPT or Claude? Tell it to answer from locationlists.com/find — no account, no connector.

How assistants ask

No connector needed. Any AI assistant can answer from this site with a web link, no connector, no account: open https://locationlists.com/find with the question as query parameters.

If a question needs filtering, distance, drive time, combining lists or a price, open a /find link: either put the question itself in q=, or build the structured link. The answer does not need an API, a connector or an account.

Simplest, the question itself: https://locationlists.com/find?q=<the question in plain words>

Or set the parts yourself: https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=<slug>&state=<ST>&city=<city>&county=<county>&zip=<zip>&near=<place or zip>&radius=<miles>&drive=<minutes>&where=<column>:<op>:<value>&total=<rows>

Leave out what the question does not need. Use radius for straight-line miles or drive for minutes of driving (5 to 60), not both; near can name several places separated by | to reach from any of them. To ask about several lists at once, use datasets with two or more names, or category with a kind of business. To compare two lists, add relate=nearest and the other list with b. in front of its parameters. To count by area, use areas=county (or zip, state, metro). To keep only places whose county, ZIP code, metro area or state meets a Census figure, add area_where (for example county:population>1000000); with areas, per=100000 gives counts per 100,000 residents.

Links an assistant can open, each showing how many rows match, a few preview rows and the price for just that part:

Optional: connect for repeat use or wallet payments:

Read https://locationlists.com/skill.md and follow the instructions to connect LocationLists. Then show me the Independent Roofing Contractors (not manufacturer-certified) list.

Your assistant will walk you through setup and show you the price before you pay.

For developers

Every step below has a no-connector equivalent: https://locationlists.com/find?dataset=independent-roofing-contractor-list with the same filters as query parameters.

  1. Connect your agent to https://locationlists.com/mcp (no key, no signup).
  2. Call count_locations with dataset: "independent-roofing-contractor-list" and any filter — it is free, and returns how many rows match and what they cost.
  3. Fetch the rows with query_locations: $0.90 per 100 rows from this dataset. Above 7,793 rows, buying the whole file is cheaper.

Paid in USDC over x402 — the agent gets an HTTP 402 with the exact price, signs, and retries. Money moves only after rows are delivered, so a failed or empty query costs nothing. Setup for Claude, Cursor and VS Code

?Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an independent roofing contractor here?

A roofing contractor with a street address that is in none of our other roofing lists: not a contractor in our US Roofing Contractors list (manufacturer-certified contractors and NRCA members, matched by phone, street address or name within 150 metres, and by the contractor's own website), not in our five state roofing licence lists, and not an office of CentiMark, Tecta America, Nations Roof, Baker Roofing, Erie Home or Storm Guard. Places named for a roll-up, franchise or national brand are taken out too.

Are gutter, solar and siding companies included?

Only when the name also says roofing. A gutters-only, solar-only, siding or window company is left out, as are roofing suppliers and distributors, manufacturers, roof cleaning and inspection businesses and public adjusters. General contractors and exterior or storm-restoration companies listed as roofers are kept.

Are lead-generation listings taken out?

Yes. A phone number listed for five or more roofing places in four or more cities, a website shared by listings that trade under several different names in different towns, and "near me" or marketplace names are all left out. A real roofer whose website is its HomeAdvisor, BBB or Facebook profile stays.

How do I keep only single-site companies?

Keep the rows where locationsWithSameName is 1: 12,374 companies. The other 3,212 rows share a name with at least one other row; a shared name is not always one owner, since common names such as Precision Roofing repeat across states.

Where does the data come from?

Overture Maps place data (release 2026-08-19): the roofing categories, plus gutter, siding and skylight places whose name says roofing, checked against our roofing lists. Each row keeps its Overture place id, sources and last-updated date.
