18,170 bonded wine premises across the United States, taken from the federal permit register the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau publishes, with a street address on 99% of records. This is the legal universe rather than a tourism directory: every business permitted to produce wine, including the custom-crush operations, blenders and virtual brands that never open a tasting room and therefore never appear on visitor-focused lists. California leads with 6,423, followed by Washington 1,428, Texas 1,016, Oregon 997 and New York 860. Glass, closure, barrel, label and equipment suppliers, distributors and importers, winery software vendors, and investors mapping consolidation all need the permitted universe. The register carries no phone, website or coordinates, which we state plainly rather than filling with guesses; distinct physical premises number 15,045 if you deduplicate addresses.

## The figures

- Records: 18,186 locations
- States: 52
- Coverage: U.S.
- Fields: 21
- Price: $69 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on October 18, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-10-18

The file has all 18,186 locations across 52 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Questions

### Why is this bigger than the commonly quoted 11,000 wineries?

That figure counts consumer-facing wineries. A federal wine permit also covers custom-crush facilities, blenders, alternating proprietors and virtual brands sharing a site, so the permit count runs higher. Deduplicating to distinct premises addresses gives 15,045. We report all three numbers rather than picking the flattering one.

### Does it include phone numbers, websites or coordinates?

No. The federal register publishes the permit holder, operating name and address only. We have not padded it with geocoded or scraped guesses. If you need coordinates, the free Census batch geocoder handles this file well, and we can run that for you.

### How current is the federal file?

File built on October 18, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule. The date on this page is the date of the file you would download.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt October 18, 2026 from ttb.gov: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (October 18, 2026). Unified 426 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (October 18, 2026). Corrected 51 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Shortened 1 ZIP codes to the five-digit code every address filter expects, keeping the delivery-route segment in a column of its own (October 18, 2026). Added map coordinates to 18,094 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 16,286 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (October 18, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 0 points that fell outside that state (October 18, 2026). Flagged 331 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (October 18, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (October 18, 2026).

### Isn't this free on ttb.gov?

The underlying records are public on ttb.gov. What you pay for is the work between that public release and this file: unified 426 city spellings, corrected 51 misspelled city names, shortened 1 ZIP codes, added coordinates to 18,094 listings, added the county to 16,286 listings, flagged 331 incomplete addresses and measured 18,186 rows, and a fresh rebuild every week. The current file was rebuilt October 18, 2026 from ttb.gov. Doing it yourself means downloading the full release, repeating each of those steps, and repeating them again every time the source updates.

### How complete is each field?

Measured September 14, 2026 on every row of the file, the share of rows that carry each key field: phone 0%, website 1%, street address 99%, city 100%, state 100%, ZIP code 100%, latitude 0%, longitude 0%. 15 of 21 columns are filled on at least half the rows, and 3 are empty in every row. 0% repeat a business name at the same street address. In 40 of 6,575 ZIP codes the same city is spelled more than one way (652 rows).
