# US Petroleum Fuel Terminals — U.S. location dataset

Canonical URL: https://locationlists.com/data/us-fuel-terminal-list

1,332 active US fuel terminals from the IRS Terminal Control Number directory (active terminals at 30 August 2026). Any terminal that receives or moves gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuel or blendstocks in bulk must hold an IRS terminal control number (TCN), so the directory is the full register of active bulk fuel terminals: pipeline, marine and rack terminals, including the loading racks at refineries. Texas has 152, California 81, Alaska 58, Pennsylvania 57, New York 53 and Ohio 51; every state but Vermont has at least one. Each row carries the TCN, the operator or terminal name the IRS lists, the street address and map coordinates: 1,107 placed at the street address and 222 at the centre of their ZIP code where the address could not be placed, as coordinatePrecision says.

## The figures

- Records: 1,332 locations
- States: 49
- Coverage: U.S.
- Fields: 17
- Price: $19 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- Snapshot built on October 3, 2026. Not rebuilt on a schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-10-03

The file has all 1,332 locations across 49 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Fields

- `name`: Operator or terminal name as the IRS lists it
- `terminalControlNumber`: IRS terminal control number (TCN), e.g. T-76-TX-2700; two numbers where one operator holds two at the same address
- `address`: Street address
- `address2`: Second address line, where given
- `city`: City
- `state`: Two-letter state code
- `zip`: ZIP code
- `country`: US
- `latitude`: Latitude
- `longitude`: Longitude
- `coordinatePrecision`: Street address, or ZIP code centre where the street address could not be placed
- `sourceRelease`: IRS directory release the row comes from
- `geo_precision`: How the coordinates were arrived at: the register's own point, or a geocode of the address, ZIP centre or city centre
- `county`: County name
- `county_fips`: Five-digit county FIPS code
- `county_note`: Set when the ZIP code spans more than one county
- `address_quality`: complete, no_house_number, po_box, missing_city_or_zip or missing

## Questions

### Where does the data come from?

From the IRS Terminal Control Number (TCN) Terminal Locations Directory, the register of every terminal approved to receive and deliver taxable fuel in bulk, as published for 30 August 2026. One row per TCN; two TCNs that one operator holds at the same street address are one row with both numbers.

### Which kinds of terminals are in it?

Every active bulk fuel terminal with an IRS terminal control number: pipeline, marine and truck-rack terminals for gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuel and blendstocks, including the loading racks at refineries. The IRS directory does not say which kind each terminal is.

### How precise are the coordinates?

1,107 terminals are placed at their street address. 222 whose address is a highway route, an intersection, an airport fuel farm or a rural route that no geocoder can place sit at the centre of their ZIP code. coordinatePrecision says which.

### Is this list in the Energy Infrastructure Bundle?

Yes. The bundle puts the power plant, refinery and fuel terminal lists in one CSV, tagged by facility type, for less than buying the three one by one.

### How current is it?

Snapshot built on October 3, 2026. It is a one-time snapshot and is not rebuilt on a schedule.
