16,915 bank branches and offices closed between 2020-01-01 and 2026-09-04, one row per office at the address and coordinates it had when it shut, with the closing date, the date the FDIC processed it, the bank that closed it and whether that bank is still active. 100.0% carry a street address, 99.7% coordinates. Built from the FDIC structure-change history, the register every directory eventually catches up with. Nobody else sells this file.

## The figures

- Records: 16,915 locations
- States: 52
- Coverage: U.S.
- Fields: 28
- Price: $69 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on September 14, 2026. Not on an automatic refresh schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-09-14

The file has all 16,915 locations across 52 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Questions

### Where does this data come from?

From the FDIC's BankFind Suite: the office-location table (every office an insured institution has registered), the institution table, and the Summary of Deposits survey for June 30, 2025. Every row is the institution's own registered entry with the FDIC, not a copy of a bank website.

### What is one row?

One office that the FDIC recorded as closed — at the address and coordinates it had when it shut. Offices that were sold or merged into another bank are not closures and are not here; they appear in the live branch file under the acquiring bank.

### Are phone numbers included?

No. The FDIC publishes no telephone numbers for banks or branches, and this file does not append them. Directories that show one obtained it elsewhere.

### How current is it?

File built on September 14, 2026. It is not on an automatic refresh schedule, so check the build date above before you buy.

### How current is the closure list?

File built on September 14, 2026. It is not on an automatic refresh schedule, so check the build date above before you buy.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt September 14, 2026 from FDIC BankFind: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (September 14, 2026). Unified 226 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (September 14, 2026). Corrected 8 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (September 14, 2026). Added map coordinates to 55 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (September 14, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 16,896 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (September 14, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 4 points that fell outside that state (September 14, 2026). Flagged 190 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (September 14, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (September 14, 2026).

### Isn't this free on FDIC BankFind?

The underlying records are public on FDIC BankFind. What you pay for is the work between that public release and this file: unified 226 city spellings, corrected 8 misspelled city names, added coordinates to 55 listings, added the county to 16,896 listings, re-placed 4 misplaced map points, flagged 190 incomplete addresses and measured 16,915 rows. The current file was rebuilt September 14, 2026 from FDIC BankFind. Doing it yourself means downloading the full release, repeating each of those steps, and repeating them again every time the source updates.

### How complete is each field?

Measured on every row of the current file, the share of rows that carry each key field: street address 100%, city 100%, state 100%, ZIP code 100%, latitude 100%, longitude 100%. 27 of 28 columns are filled on at least half the rows.
