1,189 licensed water well drillers and pump installers in Texas that publish a business address, from the state licensing extract, with phone, county, license number, class and expiry. Texas has more private water wells than any other state, and well drilling is a rural, owner-operated trade with no national directory, so the license register is the only complete list. Pump, tank, pipe and control manufacturers and their distributors use it to build dealer and rep territories; groundwater districts and environmental consultancies use it to find qualified drillers; and equipment dealers use it to target rig and service-truck buyers. The state issues 1,752 of these licenses in total, and the 563 that publish no address are excluded rather than shipped as rows you cannot use.

## The figures

- Records: 1,195 locations
- States: 20
- Coverage: partial U.S.: 20 states
- Fields: 24
- Price: $19 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on October 18, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-10-18

The file has all 1,195 locations across 20 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Questions

### Why 1,189 and not the 1,752 licenses Texas issues?

563 licensees file no business or mailing address with the state, so they would be a name and nothing else. We drop them rather than pad the count, which is why the record total is lower than the license total you will see quoted.

### Does it separate drillers from pump installers?

Yes, in the license type and class columns. Many hold both endorsements, and the file shows which each licensee carries.

### Are these companies or individuals?

Both, as the state issues them. The name column carries the business name where one is on file and the licensee otherwise, and every included row has a usable address.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt October 18, 2026 from tdlr.texas.gov: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (October 18, 2026). Unified 10 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (October 18, 2026). Corrected 1 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Shortened 775 ZIP codes to the five-digit code every address filter expects, keeping the delivery-route segment in a column of its own (October 18, 2026). Added map coordinates to 1,192 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 1,014 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (October 18, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 0 points that fell outside that state (October 18, 2026). Flagged 41 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (October 18, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (October 18, 2026).

### Isn't this free on tdlr.texas.gov?

The underlying records are public on tdlr.texas.gov. What you pay for is the work between that public release and this file: unified 10 city spellings, corrected 1 misspelled city names, shortened 775 ZIP codes, added coordinates to 1,192 listings, added the county to 1,014 listings, flagged 41 incomplete addresses and measured 1,195 rows, and a fresh rebuild every week. The current file was rebuilt October 18, 2026 from tdlr.texas.gov. Doing it yourself means downloading the full release, repeating each of those steps, and repeating them again every time the source updates.

### How complete is each field?

Measured on every row of the current file, the share of rows that carry each key field: phone 100%, street address 100%, city 100%, state 100%, ZIP code 100%, latitude 100%, longitude 100%. 24 of 24 columns are filled on at least half the rows.
