5,261 licensed towing companies and vehicle storage facilities across Texas, from the state's own licensing extract, each with a business street address, phone, county, license number and expiry. Towing and impound is a genuinely fragmented industry with no national chain and no reliable directory, which makes the state license register the only complete source. Insurers and claims networks building tow panels, roadside assistance and motor club operators recruiting providers, towing equipment and software vendors, and investors consolidating a local market all need exactly this list. Vehicle storage facilities are licensed separately from tow companies and both are included, distinguished in the license type column, because an impound lot and a wrecker service are different businesses with different buyers.

## The figures

- Records: 5,261 locations
- States: 4
- Coverage: partial U.S.: 4 states (AR, NM, OK, TX)
- Fields: 24
- Price: $39 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on October 18, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-10-18

The file has all 5,261 locations across 4 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Questions

### What is the difference between a tow company and a vehicle storage facility?

Texas licenses them separately. A towing company operates the wreckers; a vehicle storage facility is the licensed lot where towed and impounded vehicles are held. Many operators hold both, and the license type column tells you which each row is.

### Does this include individual tow truck drivers?

No. Texas licenses roughly 18,700 individual tow truck operators as well, but those are personal licenses without business addresses. This file is the licensed businesses only, so every row is a company you can contact at a location.

### How often does it change?

File built on October 18, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule. The date on this page is the date of the file you would download.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt October 18, 2026 from tdlr.texas.gov: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (October 18, 2026). Unified 9 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (October 18, 2026). Corrected 15 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Shortened 3,497 ZIP codes to the five-digit code every address filter expects, keeping the delivery-route segment in a column of its own (October 18, 2026). Removed the second copy of 2 street addresses that were typed twice in the same field (October 18, 2026). Added map coordinates to 5,260 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (October 18, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 4,573 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (October 18, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 0 points that fell outside that state (October 18, 2026). Flagged 54 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (October 18, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (October 18, 2026).

### Isn't this free on tdlr.texas.gov?

The underlying records are public on tdlr.texas.gov. What you pay for is the work between that public release and this file: unified 9 city spellings, corrected 15 misspelled city names, shortened 3,497 ZIP codes, fixed 2 doubled addresses, added coordinates to 5,260 listings, added the county to 4,573 listings, flagged 54 incomplete addresses and measured 5,261 rows, and a fresh rebuild every week. The current file was rebuilt October 18, 2026 from tdlr.texas.gov. Doing it yourself means downloading the full release, repeating each of those steps, and repeating them again every time the source updates.

### How complete is each field?

Measured on every row of the current file, the share of rows that carry each key field: phone 97%, street address 100%, city 100%, state 100%, ZIP code 100%, latitude 100%, longitude 100%. 22 of 24 columns are filled on at least half the rows.
