Sleep Number Corporation (NASDAQ: SNBR) keeps shrinking its retail network: its own store sitemap listed 573 stores in May 2026 and 539 on October 5, 2026. This dataset holds 237 Sleep Number store locations that have left the network. 203 were recovered by diffing 33 archived Wayback Machine snapshots of Sleep Number's store sitemap (2021-2025) against the live list: for 152 of them the last archived store page supplied the full address, GPS coordinates, store ID and Google CID, and the other 51 carry the state, city and street from the store's own URL, placed on the map from that address. The other 34 closed in 2026. They come from comparing the live store sitemap with our earlier copies of the store list, and each was added only after its own store page stopped answering (HTTP 404); each keeps the store's last published record, including store ID, address, phone, coordinates, Google rating and review count. Every row carries closedAfter, the last date the store was seen open, and the 2026 rows also carry closedBy, the first date it was seen gone. Each rebuild adds the stores that have closed since the last one, and no row is ever removed. Use it for retail-rationalization analysis, market-exit studies, and investor work on SNBR's store productivity.

## Questions

### How did you reconstruct these closed-store records?

Two ways. For 2021-2025 we pulled every archived snapshot of sleepnumber.com/sitemap.xml.gz from the Wayback Machine (33 snapshots), took the union of every store URL ever listed and subtracted the live list, then read each closed store's last archived page for its address, GPS coordinates, store ID and Google CID: 152 pages were archived, and the other 51 stores carry the state, city and street from their URL. Since 2026 each rebuild compares Sleep Number's live store sitemap with our own earlier copies of the store list. A store that drops out is added once its own page answers 404, with the record it last published.

### How accurate are the closure dates?

closedAfter is the last date a store was seen in the live sitemap; the 2026 rows also carry closedBy, the first date it was seen gone, so the closure happened inside that window. The 34 stores that closed in 2026 carry windows of May 19 to June 27 (3 stores) and June 27 to October 5 (31 stores); each later closure is dated to the interval between two rebuilds. For the 2021-2025 rows the closure happened between closedAfter and the next archived snapshot, typically within one to three months.

### Why would I want closed-store data?

Several uses: (1) retail-rationalization analysis — which markets did Sleep Number exit and why? (2) investor work — overlay closures on SNBR's productivity disclosures to identify low-performing markets, (3) competitive site-selection — closed Sleep Number locations are now available retail spaces in proven mattress-retail trade areas (great signal for competitors like Mattress Firm, Purple, or Saatva considering nearby moves), (4) academic research on retail-network optimization.
