13,128 US marinas, boatyards, municipal harbours and yacht clubs with dockage, with a street address on 92%, a phone on 87%, a website on 70% and an email on 54% — attribute coverage that no other marina list comes close to, because most are assembled from mapping data that carries a name and a pin and nothing else. 9,883 of these are attested by a marina operator's own locator, the industry association's member directory or the boating community database that cruisers actually use, rather than resting on map data alone. Beyond contact details it carries 53 columns of operating detail no other marina list publishes: shore power by amperage from 16 up to 200 amp, dock construction (floating, fixed or concrete), maximum length overall and beam, liveaboard permission, approach depth, VHF channel, after-hours contact and dockage rates. Yard capability is broken out individually rather than lumped into one field — haul-out confirmed at 1,725 marinas and pump-out at 2,547, plus mechanical, diesel and gas engine repair, fiberglass, bottom painting, welding, canvas and upholstery, electronics, marine HVAC, propeller repair, sails and rigging, surveyors, towing and salvage. Fuel splits into diesel, gas, propane, ethanol-free and electric instead of a single yes. Amenities cover wifi, laundry, showers, restrooms, restaurant, courtesy car and transportation, and a Clean Marina certification flag comes from nine state programs. Marine equipment and dock manufacturers, fuel distributors, boat OEMs and dealers, marina management software, insurers, and the private equity buyers consolidating marinas all need slip-level detail rather than a pin on a map. One convention worth knowing before you filter: every capability column has four possible answers — yes, no, nearby, and blank — and blank means the source did not record it, never a denial. We do not turn unknowns into noes.

## The figures

- Records: 13,128 locations (13,116 US)
- States: 52
- Coverage: U.S.
- Fields: 57
- Price: $49 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on September 14, 2026. Not on an automatic refresh schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-09-14

The file has all 13,128 locations across 52 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## What we did to this data

Unified 262 city spellings, corrected 47 misspelled city names, fixed 1 doubled addresses, added coordinates to 362 listings, added the county to 13,037 listings, re-placed 101 misplaced map points, flagged 2,374 incomplete addresses and measured 13,128 rows. Rebuilt September 14, 2026 from activecaptain.garmin.com.

## How complete the key fields are

email 54%, phone 87%, website 70%, street address 92%, city 94%, state 100%, ZIP code 90%, latitude 100%, longitude 100%. 19 of 58 columns are filled on at least half the rows.

## Questions

### Why 13,128 when the industry says about 11,000 marinas?

Because the definition is wider, deliberately. This includes boatyards, municipal harbours and yacht clubs with dockage alongside commercial marinas, since all of them buy dock hardware, fuel and services. The narrower attested core — sites confirmed by an operator locator, the trade association or the cruising community database — is 9,883, which sits just under the usual estimate. Both numbers are on the record so you can use whichever fits your definition.

### How is the attribute coverage so much better than other marina lists?

Because the primary source is the database boaters use to find dockage, which exists to answer questions a mapping database never asks: how many slips, what approach depth, what maximum length, is there fuel, do they take transients. That is why address coverage is 92% and phone 87% rather than the 43% and 16% a map-derived list gives you.

### Are boat dealers and launch ramps included?

No. Both were explicitly excluded — 226 ramps, dealers and dry-storage sites were dropped from every source, along with 629 map-only records whose names did not indicate a marina. Padding the count with boat dealers would have been easy and would have made the file useless for anyone selling dock hardware.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt September 14, 2026 from activecaptain.garmin.com: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (September 14, 2026). Unified 262 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (September 14, 2026). Corrected 47 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (September 14, 2026). Removed the second copy of 1 street addresses that were typed twice in the same field (September 14, 2026). Added map coordinates to 362 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (September 14, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 13,037 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (September 14, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 101 points that fell outside that state (September 14, 2026). Flagged 2,374 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (September 14, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (September 14, 2026).

### Isn't this free on activecaptain.garmin.com?

The underlying records are public on activecaptain.garmin.com. What you pay for is the work between that public release and this file: unified 262 city spellings, corrected 47 misspelled city names, fixed 1 doubled addresses, added coordinates to 362 listings, added the county to 13,037 listings, re-placed 101 misplaced map points, flagged 2,374 incomplete addresses and measured 13,128 rows. The current file was rebuilt September 14, 2026 from activecaptain.garmin.com. Doing it yourself means downloading the full release, repeating each of those steps, and repeating them again every time the source updates.

### How complete is each field?

Measured on every row of the current file, the share of rows that carry each key field: email 54%, phone 87%, website 70%, street address 92%, city 94%, state 100%, ZIP code 90%, latitude 100%, longitude 100%. 19 of 58 columns are filled on at least half the rows.
