5,636 U.S. sites with a current FDA drug establishment registration, read on 26 October 2026 from FDA's Drug Registration and Listing System file. Each site is registered to make, test, pack, label or relabel drugs for the U.S. market. 3,276 are registered to manufacture, 527 to make active ingredients (API), 1,163 to test and 689 to make medicated animal feed. California has 512, Texas 357, New Jersey 329 and Florida 309. Each row has FDA's list of operations, the FEI and DUNS numbers, the registrant, and the contact name and email FDA publishes. 87% are placed on the map at their street address. FDA publishes no phone number in this file. Pharmaceuticals are under a Section 232 national security investigation (opened 1 April 2025).

The file has all 5,636 locations across 51 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

- `state`: Two-letter state code (U.S. lists); region as FDA writes it, Canadian provinces as two-letter codes (foreign lists)
- `zip`: ZIP or postal code
- `country`: Country (U.S. lists: US)
- `countryCode`: FDA's three-letter country code
- `contactName`: Contact person FDA publishes for the site (drugs: establishment contact; devices: official correspondent)

- `address_quality`: complete, no_house_number, po_box, missing_city_or_zip or missing
- `zip4`: ZIP+4 extension, where FDA publishes one

In the header but under 1% filled, so not in this release: usAgent.

## What we did to this data

Unified 88 city spellings, corrected 19 misspelled city names, shortened 1,033 ZIP codes, fixed 1 doubled addresses, added coordinates to 5,622 listings, added the county to 5,622 listings, flagged 86 incomplete addresses and measured 5,636 rows. Rebuilt October 26, 2026 from accessdata.fda.gov.

## Questions

### Is every FDA-registered drug site in the U.S. in the list?

It holds every U.S. site with a current registration in FDA's drug registration file on 26 October 2026. Expired registrations and the sites FDA has excluded are not in it. One row is one DUNS number, the unit FDA registers. Some sites hold two DUNS numbers under one FEI, so they appear twice.

### Who can I reach with it?

Every row has the establishment contact's name and email and the registrant's contact name and email, as FDA publishes them. FDA's file has no phone numbers.

### What do the operations mean?

They are FDA's own codes for what the site does. Manufacture means it makes finished drugs. API Manufacture means it makes active ingredients. Analysis is a testing lab. Label, Pack, Repack and Relabel are packaging steps. Sterilize, Transfill and Positron Emission Tomography Drug Production are listed when they apply.

### How current is the data?

Snapshot built on October 26, 2026. It is a one-time snapshot and is not rebuilt on a schedule.

### How is this data cleaned?

Every rebuild runs the same steps and counts what each one changed. For the current file, rebuilt October 26, 2026 from accessdata.fda.gov: Merged 0 duplicate listings that had the same business name, street address and ZIP code, keeping every filled-in detail from both (October 26, 2026). Unified 88 city names written more than one way within the same ZIP code (for example with and without a space or an abbreviation) to the US Census Bureau spelling (October 26, 2026). Corrected 19 misspelled city names to the US Census Bureau place name for their ZIP code (October 26, 2026). Shortened 1,033 ZIP codes to the five-digit code every address filter expects, keeping the delivery-route segment in a column of its own (October 26, 2026). Removed the second copy of 1 street addresses that were typed twice in the same field (October 26, 2026). Added map coordinates to 5,622 listings that had none, from the US Census Bureau address geocoder or, where the street address could not be matched, the centre of the ZIP code (October 26, 2026). Set the county and its federal county code on 5,622 listings, matched to the US Census Bureau county list from the county the source records, the listing's map point, or its ZIP code area (October 26, 2026). Checked every map point against the state in its address and re-placed 0 points that fell outside that state (October 26, 2026). Flagged 86 addresses that are incomplete, a PO box, or missing a house number, in an address quality column (October 26, 2026). Checked that the row count, state count and field completeness published for this file were measured from the file itself (October 26, 2026).
