158,886 licensed childcare providers merged from the state licensing registries that publish their data in bulk; the state column says which registry each row came from, and the coverage figures on this page are counted from the file. Every record has a street address; 83,176 are licensed centers, 53,653 are family child care homes, 9,215 are school-age programs and 1,947 are Head Start sites, each tagged in the providerType column. Roughly four in five carry the licensed capacity, which is the field buyers qualify on. There is no national childcare registry — no federal agency licenses childcare — so a list like this only exists if someone assembles it state by state, and that is precisely why it is worth buying rather than building. Buyers include food and snack distributors, curriculum, toy and furniture suppliers, playground manufacturers, childcare management software, insurance brokers, staffing agencies and private equity groups rolling up centers.

## The figures

- Records: 158,886 locations (158,881 US)
- States: 29
- Coverage: partial U.S.: 29 states
- Fields: 22
- Price: $149 one-time, CSV download, commercial license (https://locationlists.com/license)
- File built on September 14, 2026. Rebuilt weekly on an automatic schedule.
- File last modified: 2026-09-14

The file has all 158,886 locations across 29 states in one download. Building the same list by searching one area at a time tends to miss places, and a missed place looks like a gap in coverage that is not really there.

## Questions

### Why not all 50 states?

Because only some states publish their licensing registry in a form that can be downloaded in bulk. Virginia, Illinois and Missouri offer one-record-at-a-time lookups only, and many others publish nothing machine-readable. The state count on this page is counted from the file itself, and we do not call it a national file, because it is not one. If you need a specific missing state, ask and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

### Are in-home daycares included?

In most states yes, and they are 53,653 of the records. Four states — California, Washington, New Jersey and Arizona — withhold family child care home addresses because they are private residences, so those states contribute centers only. The providerType column makes the distinction explicit everywhere.

### Can I get just one state, or just centers?

The file ships whole and you filter it: the state column and the providerType column are both there, so a single state or a centers-only cut is one filter in Excel or a spreadsheet. If you would rather we deliver a pre-cut file for your territory, ask and we will send it.
